Cooking Tips

I am no expert to give advice. But yes I have collected a lot from family, friends and various blogs. So am sharing some tips here. This is still a work in progress and I will keep updating this page as and when time permits.
If you have some tips of your own let me know about it. Leave a comment and I will add it to the list.

1. Be your own prep chef - I read this tip on a blog ( I forget the name though). If you cut and trim the vegetables the day you do your grocery shopping it is more likely to get used up. It saves a lot of weekday hassle.

2. To thicken chutneys like cilantro-mint or tomato chutney try substituting peanuts for shredded carrots. The chutney will be more tasty and nutritious.

3. Almost always I make a double batch of cilantro-mint chutney. I used some and freeze the rest in ice-cube trays. When frozen I store them in a clean zip lock bag. This way I can have some toasted chutney sandwich in less than 5 min. Not to mention the easy cleanup. I also do this more in summers when there is an abundance of fresh herbs available for cheap.
